Celebrate Frederick Douglass’ 200th Birthday During Black History Month

This month, Maryland celebrates the life and legacy of the father of civil rights Frederick Douglass with commemorative events around the state. And explore the stories of other Maryland-born civil rights giants such as Harriet Tubman, Thurgood Marshall, and Benjamin Banneker during Black History Month with events at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture and the Great Blacks in Wax Museum in Baltimore, the Josiah Henson Park in North Bethesda, and along the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Scenic Byway.
