Celebrate the Finale of the “Year of Frederick Douglass” During Black History Month
February is Black History Month, and this year, Maryland concludes a special year of celebration dedicated to the life and legacy of the Father of Civil Rights, Frederick Douglass, with commemorative events around the state. Explore the stories of other Maryland-born civil rights giants such as Harriet Tubman, Thurgood Marshall, and Benjamin Banneker with events at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture and the Great Blacks in Wax Museum in Baltimore, and along the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Scenic Byway.
