Maryland’s Summer of Music Keeps on Rockin’ in the Free State

The epic sounds of summer continue as the Moonrise Festival featuring Diplo brings some of the best electronic and dance music in the world to Pimlico; Erykah Badu and The Roots headline the Summer Spirit Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion; and Uke Fest invites you to strum along at the Strathmore. Find out all of the details on our Summer of Music home page.

Hit the Midway at Maryland County Fairs

Montgomery, Howard, Queen Anne’s and Somerset counties are hosting their annual state fairs, so grab yourself a corn dog and a deep-fried Snickers bar before you try your luck at the “Guess Your Weight” game, check out the prettiest prize pigs in the county, and take home a big stuffed bear to prove you were there. Follow this link to find out more about all of Maryland’s amazing county fairs.

July is 'Buy Local' Month in Maryland

From the farm to the table, there's no better way to celebrate the summer than with fresh seasonal favorites made in Maryland. Whether you grab a cool scoop of ice cream, crisp fruit or a refreshing brew, there is no shortage of mouth-watering cuisine to indulge in. Stroll around one of our many farmers' markets and get a basket of succulent fruits and vegetables-- blueberries, cherries, peaches and melons are in season-- as well as carrots, corn, summer squash and tomatoes. Learn more about local Farmers' Markets and Maryland's annual Buy Local Challenge (running through July 29) here.

Get Your Seafood Fix at These Maryland Seafood Festivals

If you’re looking for the best seafood on the planet, you’re in luck, because in Maryland, you never have to look far. Get your friends together, grab your favorite mallet and a bib (or live dangerously — Maryland flag
T-shirts hide Old Bay stains pretty well) and head over to our Seafood Festivals page to find one near you. Pick a destination across the state and taste how they do it — from the Maryland mountains to the deep blue sea.
