Governor Leading Asian Trade Mission
Gov. O’Malley is leading one of the state’s largest overseas delegations on a 10-day economic development mission in China, Korea and Vietnam to boost trade and investment and promote Maryland as the ideal location to establish U.S. operations. During the first stop in China, the Governor announced more than $45 million in deals with Chinese companies and institutions, including a $40 million investment by Tasly Group (see story below). The mission will also include a meeting with South Korea’s National Minister of Knowledge Economy Choi Joong-kyung.

More highlights feature the Maryland-Seoul Banquet, co-hosted by Seoul’s Mayor Oh Se-hoon; a keynote address by Gov. O’Malley at the 600-attendee Global Bio & Medical Forum, expected to attract senior executives from many of Korea’s largest biopharmaceutical companies; a visit with senior leadership at Korea’s Samsung and a banquet with Vietnam’s Ninh Thuan Province’s People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Chi Dung.
