China’s Tasly Group Invests $40M in MD Facility
Leading Chinese biopharmaceutical company Tasly Group will invest $40 million in a new Montgomery County U.S. operation, the largest investment in Maryland by a Chinese company. Tasly plans to create dozens of jobs at a 430,000 SF production facility and training center in the Shady Grove Life Sciences Center as they prepare for Phase III FDA trials of CDDP, their leading traditional Chinese medicine. Tasly Chairman Dr. Yan Xijun said Maryland was a “perfect fit” due to its talent base, R&D infrastructure, location, rich scientific community and world-class universities.

Gov. O’Malley made the announcement following a keynote address at the 500+ attendee 13th Shanghai BioForum, one of China’s premier biopharmaceutical events. The Governor and delegation members toured Tasly’s Shanghai headquarters in Zhangjiang High-Tech Park, Pudong, which features China's largest cell culture base. Following the meeting with Tasly executives, the Governor had lunch with executives of some of China’s largest biopharm companies.
