Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Maryland Escape

The temperatures may be dropping, but we’ve got the perfect Valentine’s Day suggestions to heat things up. Revisit that restaurant where the two of you fell in love, try a great holiday getaway package — at a hotel at the beach, in the mountains, in downtown areas, or right around the corner — or get out and catch a show. There is so much to love in Maryland this February.

Commemorate Black History Month

Maryland is home to civil rights pioneers and freedom fighters such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Justice Thurgood Marshall, and more-- there is so much to see, do, and learn in Maryland all month long. Look for events at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center on the Eastern Shore, the Banneker-Douglass Museum in Annapolis, Baltimore’s Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, Great Blacks in Wax Museum, and Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park, as well as the newly relocated Doleman Black Heritage Museum in Hagerstown or at the Maryland State House in Annapolis as new statues of Tubman and Douglass are unveiled, with more events across the state. Find out where and when on our Black History Month Page.

Enjoy Winter Restaurant Weeks and More Food Festival Fun

Several of Maryland’s famous food capitals are putting their best plates forward with winter restaurant weeks. Enjoy prix fixe menus and amazing creations from the best chefs in the region as National Harbor Restaurant Week runs through February 8; Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week runs February 7-23; Annapolis Restaurant Week runs February 29-March 8; Frederick Restaurant Week goes Mach 2-8; and Calvert County Restaurant Week March 5-12. Plus, look for unique “Only in Maryland” events like the Annapolis Oyster Roast & Sock Burning and Taste of Solomons both just around the corner on March 21! For all the info, head to our Restaurant Weeks and Food Festivals page.

Raise a Glass to FeBREWary, Maryland’s Craft Beer Celebration

FeBREWary is Maryland’s month-long celebration of the Old Line State’s remarkable beer making tradition, and we’ve got events planned from the mountains to the sea. Enjoy special beer releases, such as Suffragette Stout—a special collaborative micro-brew created in honor of the 100th anniversary of women earning the right to vote. And cool events such as the FeBREWary Beer Fest Kickoff, February 7 in Delmar; Love Thy Beer, February 14 in Silver Spring; Stews & Brews, February 15 in Easton; and the ShoreCraft Beer Fest: Love on Tap in Ocean City February 29. Click for a list of FeBREWary events.

Serve Up a Side of Thrill with the Chill

As the mercury drops, things heat up in Maryland’s part of the great outdoors. Whether it’s hitting the slopes at WiSP Resort, snowshoeing in your favorite state park, ice fishing on Deep Creek Lake, or living out your own Winter Olympics dreams, check the local forecast and make your plan now for WiSP. And for more ideas, visit our Top Things to Do in Winter page.
