Plan for Black History Month
This year, Black History Month also marks the winding down of the “Year of Frederick Douglass,” an American hero and Maryland icon. Home to civil rights pioneers and freedom fighters such as Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Justice Thurgood Marshall, and more-- there is so much to see, do, and learn in Maryland all month long. Look for events at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center on the Eastern Shore, the Banneker-Douglass Museum in Annapolis, and Baltimore’s Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, Great Blacks in Wax Museum, the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park, the newly relocated Doleman Black Heritage Museum in Hagerstown, and the Maryland State House as new statues of Tubman and Douglass are unveiled, with more events across the state. Find out where and when on our Black History Month page. |
