Take a Romantic Journey Along Maryland’s Historic National Road

Explore Baltimore’s harbor and enjoy a romantic dinner with sweeping city views. Head west to iconic Historic Ellicott City with its walkable streets and warm, welcoming pubs. Explore the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and all that downtown Hagerstown has to offer. Go for a ride through stunning mountain vistas on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Walk the Casselman River Bridge and shop at the nearby Spruce Forest Artisan Village. Then book a romantic stay along Lake Habeeb at the beautiful Rocky Gap Casino Resort. There’s so much to love with the person you love along Maryland’s Historic National Road. Check out this link for more information, and two great video tours of the "Road that Built the Nation".

Commemorate Black History Month

This year, Black History Month also marks the conclusion of the “Year of Frederick Douglass,” an American hero and Maryland icon. Home to civil rights pioneers and true freedom fighters such as Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Justice Thurgood Marshall, and more-- there is so much to see, do, and learn in Maryland all month long. Look for events at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center on the Eastern Shore, the Banneker-Douglass Museum in Annapolis, and Baltimore’s Reginald F. Lewis Museum, Great Blacks in Wax Museum, and the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park to name just a few, with more events across the state. Find out where and when on our Black History Month page.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a
Maryland Escape

The temperature may be dropping, but we’ve got the perfect Valentine’s Day suggestions to heat things up. Revisit that restaurant where the two of you fell in love, try a great holiday getaway package — at a hotel at the beach, in the mountains, in downtown areas, or right around the corner — or get out and catch a show. There’s so much to love in Maryland this February.
